ニュージーランドに点在する魅力的な都市の中から今回、山田さんが訪れたのは南島の中部に位置するクライストチャーチとアカロア。日本からは北島のオークランドに入国したあとトランジットしてクライストチャーチに飛ぶのが一般的。クライストチャーチはグルメとアートが街中にあふれる世界中から人気の街。そこから車で約90分足を延ばしたアカロアは太平洋に面するバンクス半島に位置しながらもクライストチャーチ市の1エリア。かつてフランスからの移住者が多かったことから、フランスのムードを感じられる可愛らしい街並みに出逢えるのも魅力。どちらの街も年間を通して温暖な気候で、オールシーズン観光を楽しめます。
